Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitarist as well as a music producer. She was the first woman within her age bracket to be a member of the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising superstar on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She's the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the early years of her life bouncing between London as well as New Delhi. In the age of thirteen she staged her debut performance at New Delhi. In 1999, she completed her high schooling within Encinitas CA. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful career in recording and performing even though she's young. She has been performing with her father on stage for many years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. She has appeared at many major venues around the globe. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond music. She also published Bapi the love of my life in 2002. The book is a biography that pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. She played a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka's career is still developing and she'll continue to achieve great success in the future. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of traveling between London and Delhi during her young years. After that, she moved to California to attend high school. When she was nine years old, she began her studies in music under her father, who made her debut on the sitar four years later during the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka gained numerous valuable experience by accompanying her dad during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals in addition to making recordings with George Harrison. It is the House of Commons Shield was awarded to her by the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and the youngest winner of this distinction.
